The Lodge is well equipped with a great range of facilities including a self-catering kitchen, communal lounge and dining room.
Lounge and Shop
Our guest lounge is adjacent to the dining room, next to reception. Fitted with comfy armchairs and a big sofa it's a great place to relax with a book or a board game. In winter (and chilly summer evenings!) we light the fire stove to keep things cosy. There are lots of local reference books with details on walking, the geology and the history of the Assynt area.
The Lounge also has a Hi-Fi with an iPod input, plus free WiFi is available. EE SIM mobile phones can pick up data broadband download speeds up to 70 Mbps on the terrace outside the Lodge, with upload speeds over 10 Mbps.
At reception you'll find a shop selling a selection of snacks, cooking ingredients, soft drinks, essential toiletries and books & maps. It’s not a supermarket – but certainly there is enough to get by with – and avoid an extra journey to Ullapool for a toothbrush!
Since Covid, the Lodge has NOT had an off-sales licence for Beer & Wine - please bring your own! However, with the Lodge under new ownership from 20th May 2022, the new "Explorer" team will certainly be applying for one!
In addition, we expect some "explorers" dehydrated food and camping gadgets will find their way onto our shelves, to help passing hillwalkers and trailblazers.
We are also planning to feature the famous Lochinver Pie in the future - a staple delight for those finishing a leg of their Cape Wrath Trail at Inchnadamph, or someone simply not wanting to cook one night!
Kitchen and Dining
We have a large, well-equipped self catering kitchen that is available for use by all Lodge guests. Stainless steel work benches and sinks, gas/electric cookers, microwaves and large fridges are all yours to use. Freezer space is also available and boxes are provided for storage of other foods.
There is a second smaller kitchen also available for guests, although either kitchen could be reserved for groups.
The ability to prepare your own packed lunches and evening meals can save a fortune on the cost of eating out every day.
The Dining Room seats about 45 people at our large solid pine social dining tables. In the cooler months, a roaring fire in the stove keeps out the chill. A large window provides lovely views over Loch Assynt and towards Quinag, and there are French doors out to picnic tables.
Our self service breakfast of cereals, toast & preserves, fruit juices and fresh coffee & tea is normally served from 8am until 9.30am.
Disabled Access Rooms
We have a ground floor private room in the main lodge with accessible bathroom facilities. The 3 Steading Suites also provide ground floor access for those not wishing to climb stairs.
Free High Speed WiFi
It might feel like you're off the beaten track, but we have wireless broadband to keep you connected. Ideal for planning the next leg of your adventure.
Secure Kit Storage
Under new management we are exploring new ways of looking after bikes and other bits of your kit. So you can relax knowing your belongings are safe and secure!
Dog Friendly Rooms
We know your four-legged friends enjoy an adventure as much as you do (maybe even more). So they're welcome to join you onsite and use a ground floor private room.
